Itinerary

Our tour starts from Lipari

Boarding: Lipari Island, h. 7,00PM at Marina Lunga – Portosalvo dock.

Meet your skipper there, who will show you the boat. After your cabin allocation, you’ll be invited to the ‘severe’ skipper’s briefing….Never mind…..he’s an hilarious chap!

Let’s go to buy drinks and food for the week! Share some time with other crew members, excellent opportunity to start knowing each other, if not already done!

Dinner in Lipari. You can decide either to have dinner on board or try one of the several fish restaurants in Lipari. Whatever you choose, try the pastry shop ‘Subba’ and enjoy a ‘cannolo’ or a ‘cassata’ or a Sicilian ‘granita’!

Sunday morning, you will let go the moorings, probably after having popped up into the fish shop.

As soon as you shove off, you’ll feel permeated with a new sense of freedom. That kind of freedom that only the sailing boat and its intimate relationship with the sea can give you.

Head  to the pumice quarries for a bath. The crystal-clear and transparent water has sapphire intense colors. We’ll carry on with our trip to Panarea, the most elegant of the Seven Sisters. It’s a nine-mile navigation.

In the afternoon, you circumnavigate Panarea. You can relax, sunbath or lose your sight in a mesmerizing horizon. Stop at ‘Cala Zimmari’ a perfect frame to dive in and have lunch on board. If you like snorkeling, here is the place: the seabed is rich with poseidonia, an aquatic plant releasing oxygen in the sea. Nature is variety of colours and shades, from the ‘Calcara Beach’ fumaroles to the sulfur-yellow of stones; from the steep stone walls of Basiluzzo to the prisms in ‘Cala Junco‘ Bay.

Already close to the sunset, we will stop close to Dattilo, facing the island. The sunset will allow us to watch a breathtaking sight: the warm light illuminates the small islands off Panarea (Dattilo, Lisca Bianca, Bottaro, Basiluzzo) and its colors are mixed with the sulfur yellow and the iron red characterizing their rocks, creating a unequaled lights show. Have a walk in the little streets in the town and afterwards meet for a drink. Who wants may spend the night in the most famous nightclub of the Aeolian Islands, the Raya, or in Baia Milazzese, a sheltered and quiet bay.

Head to Basiluzzo, the Eighth Aeolian Island. Its caves, the lave steps, the awkward stone shapes seem sea monuments! You’ll hear the ‘voice of Stromboli’, the most active volcano of Italy: a line of smoke reminds that it can suddenly make the Earth tremble. The black lava sand of San Vicenzo Bay hosts us for the night.

Follow the route to “Iddu”, Stromboli, one of the most active volcanoes in Europe, an island of particular charm, where you can feel the Earth breath, because of the explosions characterizing the volcano activity.

In the afternoon, you can go ashore to visit the town or the volcano, with a local guide, who escorts you up to the crater.

You’ll meet for a drink at the Ingrid Bar on a terrace with a beautiful view  of Strombolicchio, small island in front of Stromboli on which a lighthouse stands.

The evening will continue on the boat: dinner and then off to enjoy the show of “Sciara del Fuoco”, the side of the island from which you can see the volcano explosions, a stunning sight to experience …You can get closer there on small ships, if you like.  Spend the night on board.

Tuesday you will be devoted to Salina, the largest island of the Aeolian archipelago after Lipari. In the morning you will head to Pollara.

This bay, in the North West of Salina, is characterized by high cliff over the sea. In these beautiful places, Massimo Troisi chose to shoot several scenes of “Il Postino”, one of his most famous films. In its proximity, you can also admire a splendid natural arch. you will stop here for the rest of the morning and after a bath, prepare a good lunch. Refreshed by a relaxing post-lunch, we will move towards  Santa Marina. You spend the night here, but before then, dive into the clear waters, visit the village embedded into the colorful flowers of capers and the aroma of malvasia wine….

Half an hour navigation and you can taste one of the nicest slush of the Aeolian Islands, the Alfredo’s one. We advise to choose the combination figs and mulberries, perhaps accompanied by cream and croissants…delicious!!

For dinner you can choose either to go back to Lingua to enjoy “pane cunzatu”, one of the Sicilian specialties, or you can dine in one of the restaurants of Santa Marina.

Filicudi: if you are lucky, you may see a school of dolphins or some sea turtle. This kind of encounters are indeed not uncommon and they are also very exciting events!

Stop by Cape Graziano to fully enjoy the charm of the island. In the afternoon we will move to Pecorini a Mare, a picturesque fishing village.

Filicudi is expression of wilderness even underwater: if you like snorkeling, this is the place.

After a bath in front of the little village, we’ll go for a beer by the sea, maybe tasting some homemade specialties that local women sell in  “outdoor fry shops”.

If lucky, our arrival may correspond to the docking of a few fishing boats. In this case, you can buy some excellent swordfish for a dinner on the boat. Alternatively, it’s possible to have dinner at the only one restaurant in the village: “La Sirena” and try the ‘Svergognata’ (the Shameless), an open cannolo with fresh ricotta cheese and chocolate…a weird allusion!

.

On Thursday morning you stay in Filicudi, and later move to “Canna“, a craggy outcrop of volcanic origin that rises from the water several hundred meters off the coast. You can anchor and enjoy the wonderful emerald water at the small ‘Montenassari’ island, the house of seagulls …A spectacular swim waits for you.

Here, two places cannot be missed: the Sea Ox Cave where the blue and the green of the sea mix up with the deep black of the Cave. You can investigate the astonishing seabed, where sun beams enlighten 15 mt under the water. It will surely be one of the swims which will remain engraved in your mind. Early afternoon you sail until arriving near Lipari’s sea stacks. Even here the coast has high cliffs over the sea and it’s a great place where you can watch the sunset. Use the last light of the day to move into Volcano’s West Bay. There we will go ashore to drink and dance on the black sand beach and to a walk in the town centre.

On Friday morning you move to the west side of Volcano. One of the most common stops is near the Horse’s Cave and  the Venus’s Pool. The coast here is very varied and rich of reddish colors, typical of the Volcano island.  Enjoy the typical breakfast with a ‘granita’ (slushie) and croissant at Remigio’s. Relax and take a bath in the sulfur waters.

Before sailing back to port in Lipari, we will have time for a last swim at the beach of Vinci, in front of the ‘Faraglioni’ (sea stack). From here we can admire Vulcano’s crater with its fumaroles and its intense yellow, due to large concentrations of sulfur rocks.

7:00, it’s time to return to Lipari! We moor back to Marina Lunga and we spend last evening together celebrating with a dinner and spending the night in the streets of Lipari.

After the last night on board, you leave the boat by 8.30 AM.

End of services.

Excellent pre-cruise Quiiky tour in Venice. Great guide who had so much intimate knowledge of Venice. Besides being very handsome he is a local resident for more than 2 decades with so much intimate knowledge that you can’t get from a guidebook. This is my second time using Quiiky for tours and transfers; they’re my first choice in Italy!

First I would like to thank you and your company and all involved for a wonderful trip. From beginning to end we continued to be amazed by all the wonder service we received from all of you. We had a fabulous time for our anniversary. All the guides were great and all better than we expected. It is hard to pick a best as they were all awesome, that being said, three stand out for being most personable and had a excellent sense of how to move us along our tours. Quiiky gets 5 out of 5 for all other ratings. Yes, we would positively reccommend for anyone considering travel to Italy. AND, Giovanna, you’re the best.

We adored our Quikky tour of the Vatican with our guide Claudio. We had been a little apprehensive about visiting the Vatican but this tour is the way to go! Claudio had an expert knowledge of the art collection and we enjoyed hearing the "other", more scandalous stories of the private lives of Michelangelo and the popes. We loved our visit to the museums, Sistine Chapel, grotto and St Peters - I recommend joining the queue and adding on the view from the dome of the basilica - well worth the stairs!

Thanks for a great alternative tour of the Vatican. Having visited back in 1999 I wanted something a little different to do with my husband who had never visited before. It is great to see Quiiky offering tours with a twist and can most definitely recommend this one for your next visit to Rome.

First had a wonderful pre-cruise Quikky tour in Venice. Our guide was super friendly, knowledgeable, and a great deal of fun. Then I went on a tour of the Vatican and our tour guide was incredible. He is an expert on the Vatican and on the pertinent gay history (which turns out to be much more than you might even think). He literally made the Vatican come alive and provided one of the more fascinating tours I have taken anywhere. And the two wonderful owners of Quiiky picked us up and took us on a vehicular tour of Rome. Others got back from Rome complaining of the crowds and the heat... we got back energized, happy, and filled with fascinating information after an afternoon filled with fun and personalized care. Don't make the mistake thinking you will get an equivalent tour from a straight guide/company -- if you are gay, Quiiky is the way to go.
