The sexy Taormine of White Lotus
Tour Information
A two-hour walking tour in the intriguing locations of the dark comedy including a boat tour followed by a two-hour boat tour from Giardini Naxos
Taormine appears in all its vibrant allure in ‘The White Lotus’: starting from the main setting, San Domenico Palace Hotel to the imposing ancient Greek theater, the panoramic piazzetta, the pastel-colored dwellings, the elegant alleys with cafés and elegant boutiques, the restaurants, like Baronessa, where one litigious couple's dinner scene is filmed.
The tour starts at Porta Catania. The San Domenico Palace Hotel is always visible from outdoor. It is perched 400-meters atop Taormina's high rocky plateau. Actually, the sea- arrival scenes in the movie were shot at ‘la Cambusa’ restaurant, at ‘Giardini Naxos’.
Discover the majestic Greek Theater and the iconic piazzetta, which is often depicted as a cozy meeting point in town, not forgetting the Promenade, which is a recurring setting in the movie.
At Porta Messina, experience the funicular to Mazzarò, the small bay where you can catch your boat for a one-hour tour to Isola Bella. The islet is connected to the shore also by a narrow strip of sand surrounded by emerald-green waters. It's part of an archeological park and has a villa surrounded by a botanical museum.
If you like you can have a swim before going back to the funicular. Or, if you prefer, you can stay in Mazzarò for lunch in one of the traditional Sicilian restaurants on the coast.
