Sicily by Beach, Boat, Food&Wine

Details

Step into Sicily, an island where landscapes, flavors, and stories have been shaped by centuries of encounters between cultures, peoples, and identities. This multi-day experience invites you to discover the island in a relaxed yet immersive way, moving between iconic destinations and lesser-known corners, always guided by authenticity, pleasure, and connection.

The journey begins in Taormina, one of Sicily’s most celebrated destinations, dramatically set between Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea. Famous for its ancient Greek Theatre, elegant streets, and breathtaking coastal views, Taormina has long attracted artists, writers, aristocrats, and LGBTQ+ travelers in search of beauty, inspiration, and freedom. More recently, it has gained international attention as one of the filming locations of The White Lotus, adding a contemporary layer to its timeless allure.

From Taormina, the experience unfolds through a carefully balanced rhythm of discovery and leisure. You will have time to enjoy the town at your own pace—its beaches, cafés, and historic sites—while also taking part in curated activities that reveal Sicily’s deeper soul.

One of the highlights of the journey is a hands-on cooking experience with a local Sicilian chef. After visiting a traditional market to select fresh ingredients, you will learn how to prepare classic regional dishes, discovering the stories, techniques, and traditions behind Sicilian cuisine. The experience ends with a shared lunch, where food becomes a moment of connection and conviviality.

Another unforgettable moment is a private boat excursion along the coast of Taormina and Giardini Naxos. Sailing past hidden coves, sea caves, and dramatic cliffs, you will have the chance to swim and snorkel in crystal-clear waters. On board, a relaxed lunch featuring Sicilian specialties and a selection of drinks completes this Mediterranean escape, combining nature, pleasure, and comfort.

Time by the sea continues with a day at one of Taormina’s most exclusive beach clubs, set along the Baia delle Sirene. Here, golden sands, attentive service, and stunning views create the perfect setting to slow down and enjoy the island’s coastal lifestyle.

Leaving the eastern coast, the journey continues toward Cefalù, a charming seaside town where Norman architecture meets relaxed beach life. With its cathedral overlooking the sea, narrow medieval streets, and long sandy beach, Cefalù offers a different pace—intimate, authentic, and deeply Sicilian. It is a place to unwind, explore, and enjoy simple pleasures.

From Cefalù, you will venture into western Sicily to discover two of the island’s most evocative traditions: salt and wine. The historic salt pans near Trapani tell the story of a landscape shaped by human labor and nature over centuries. Nearby, a visit to a renowned Marsala wine estate reveals the heritage and techniques behind one of Sicily’s most iconic wines, with guided tastings that celebrate the territory’s flavors.

The journey then leads to Palermo, Sicily’s vibrant capital. Here, history, contrasts, and cultures coexist in a powerful mix. A guided walking tour introduces you to the city’s LGBTQ+ stories, historic neighborhoods, and lively street markets, where scents, colors, and voices bring everyday Palermo to life. Street food tastings offer an authentic way to experience the city, connecting past and present through taste.

As the experience draws to a close, time is left to relax, reflect, and savor the atmosphere of Sicily one last time. A farewell dinner provides the perfect moment to share memories and celebrate the journey.

This is not simply a tour of Sicily, but an invitation to experience the island through beaches, food, wine, sea, and stories, discovering a land that is generous, complex, and deeply welcoming.

Itinerary

Arrival in Taormina, one of Sicily’s most iconic destinations, overlooking the Ionian Sea. After arrival, enjoy free time for lunch or a first stroll through town.

Check-in at a selected 4-star hotel with panoramic views of Isola Bella. The rest of the afternoon is free to relax, enjoy the beach, or simply soak in the elegant atmosphere of Taormina.

In the evening, gather for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, the perfect opportunity to get to know your fellow travelers and start your Sicilian experience together.

IMPORTANT: Optional transfers can be arranged upon request.

A full day at leisure to explore Taormina at your own pace.

Long a favorite destination for European aristocracy during the Grand Tour, Taormina has also played a significant role in LGBTQ+ cultural history since the late 19th century. Artists, intellectuals and photographers—most notably Wilhelm von Gloeden—found here a space of inspiration, beauty and personal freedom.

You may choose to visit the Ancient Greek Theatre, stroll through elegant streets lined with boutiques and cafés, relax on the beaches of Isola Bella or Mazzarò, or enjoy Taormina’s vibrant nightlife.

In the morning, take part in a hands-on Sicilian cooking experience led by a professional local chef.

The experience begins with a visit to a nearby open-air market, where you’ll select fresh, seasonal ingredients. Back in the kitchen, the chef will guide you through the preparation of traditional Sicilian recipes, including homemade pasta and local specialties.

Once the cooking session is complete, sit down together to enjoy the meal you’ve prepared, paired with local wine.

The afternoon and evening are free for relaxation or independent exploration.

Enjoy a half-day private boat excursion along the stunning coastline of Taormina and Giardini Naxos.

Sail past hidden bays, dramatic cliffs and sea caves, stopping for swimming and snorkeling in crystal-clear waters. Highlights include the Isola Bella Marine Park, the Blue Grotto, the Cave of Lovers, and the Coral Grotto.

A light lunch featuring Sicilian specialties is served on board, accompanied by a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The rest of the day is free. In the evening, enjoy an aperitivo at one of Taormina’s iconic bars, including locations featured in The White Lotus.

A full day dedicated to relaxation at the exclusive TAO Beach Club in Taormina, located on the golden sands of Baia delle Sirene.

Enjoy reserved beach facilities, attentive service, and a refined seaside atmosphere. The perfect setting to unwind, swim, and enjoy the Mediterranean sun in style.

After breakfast, depart Taormina and travel toward the northern coast of Sicily.

Arrival in Cefalù, a charming seaside town dominated by its Norman cathedral and long sandy beach. Enjoy free time for lunch before checking in at a selected 4-star hotel.

The afternoon is free to explore the historic center, relax on the beach, or enjoy the sunset overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

A full-day excursion to western Sicily, dedicated to salt, wine and tradition.

Visit the historic Trapani salt pans, where sea salt has been harvested since ancient times. Explore a traditional windmill and enjoy a guided salt-tasting experience.

Lunch follows at a local restaurant set in a former salt workers’ structure, now restored.

In the afternoon, continue to Marsala to visit a historic wine estate within the Stagnone Nature Reserve. Enjoy a guided tour of the cellar and aging rooms, followed by a tasting of Marsala wines paired with local products.

Return to Cefalù in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, depart for Palermo, Sicily’s vibrant capital.

Meet your local guide for a guided walking tour focused on Palermo’s history, culture and LGBTQ+ heritage. Explore the historic center, including exterior views of the Cathedral and Cappella Palatina, and wander through the lively markets of Ballarò and Vucciria, where street food and local life take center stage.

Lunch is based on traditional street food tastings along the route.

In the afternoon, continue to a prestigious wine estate near Palermo for a guided visit and tasting experience.

Return to Cefalù in the late afternoon. Evening at leisure.

A final day to relax and enjoy Cefalù at your own pace—by the sea, in the old town, or simply unwinding. In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant, celebrating the journey and the connections made along the way.

My husband and I booked the tour of the “Vatican in a gay light” for one morning during our trip to Rome. Our guide, Dario, was very knowledgeable of the historical significe of the art works as well as many of the anecdotes that provided context. We learned a great deal and truly enjoyed ourselves. This tour is too notch! Thank you.

Excellent pre-cruise Quiiky tour in Venice. Great guide who had so much intimate knowledge of Venice. Besides being very handsome he is a local resident for more than 2 decades with so much intimate knowledge that you can’t get from a guidebook. This is my second time using Quiiky for tours and transfers; they’re my first choice in Italy!

First I would like to thank you and your company and all involved for a wonderful trip. From beginning to end we continued to be amazed by all the wonder service we received from all of you. We had a fabulous time for our anniversary. All the guides were great and all better than we expected. It is hard to pick a best as they were all awesome, that being said, three stand out for being most personable and had a excellent sense of how to move us along our tours. Quiiky gets 5 out of 5 for all other ratings. Yes, we would positively reccommend for anyone considering travel to Italy. AND, Giovanna, you’re the best.

We appreciate Quiiky incredible attention to detail. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. The drivers Quiiky arranged were always early, communicated with us very effectively and even called the hotels to inform them we were en route. The guides were all incredibly knowledgeable, kind, fun, and eager to answer our questions. The hotels were beautiful, spacious, and had lots of great amenities. Staff at each hotel were also immensely helpful. We’re happy to be a reference for anyone. We are grateful for all Quiiky did to listen to our specific requests and create an agenda that was perfect for us.

We adored our Quikky tour of the Vatican with our guide Claudio. We had been a little apprehensive about visiting the Vatican but this tour is the way to go! Claudio had an expert knowledge of the art collection and we enjoyed hearing the "other", more scandalous stories of the private lives of Michelangelo and the popes. We loved our visit to the museums, Sistine Chapel, grotto and St Peters - I recommend joining the queue and adding on the view from the dome of the basilica - well worth the stairs!

The excursion to Capri was great! The headphone system worked really well and the guide Andrea was super nice and fun! He was a really good guide and would not hesitate to have him again. The food and drink offerings were very good. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Overall, we were thrilled with our tour with Quiiky. We were particularly pleased with our guides and drivers in Salerno, Rome, Florence and Venice. And given the crowds in some locations, the front-of-line privileges were particularly welcome. Money well spent!...... I would recommend any of the guides to anyone considering a similar tour. It was these private tours, and the guides’ depth of knowledge, that made all the difference.....Again, we had a wonderful time and would definitely use Quiiky again should we return to Italy.

Thanks for a great alternative tour of the Vatican. Having visited back in 1999 I wanted something a little different to do with my husband who had never visited before. It is great to see Quiiky offering tours with a twist and can most definitely recommend this one for your next visit to Rome.

First had a wonderful pre-cruise Quikky tour in Venice. Our guide was super friendly, knowledgeable, and a great deal of fun. Then I went on a tour of the Vatican and our tour guide was incredible. He is an expert on the Vatican and on the pertinent gay history (which turns out to be much more than you might even think). He literally made the Vatican come alive and provided one of the more fascinating tours I have taken anywhere. And the two wonderful owners of Quiiky picked us up and took us on a vehicular tour of Rome. Others got back from Rome complaining of the crowds and the heat... we got back energized, happy, and filled with fascinating information after an afternoon filled with fun and personalized care. Don't make the mistake thinking you will get an equivalent tour from a straight guide/company -- if you are gay, Quiiky is the way to go.

I highly recommend Quiiky Travel for any guided visit to Rome or Italy. I was both surprised and entertained by everything GAY I learned about the Vatican on my tour. They are passionate about providing an excellent travel experience and I have no doubt that you would enjoy one of their tours or travel products.

We had a fantastic tour of the Vatican with Paolo from Quiiky. Paolo was knowledgeable, personable, fun and really gave us a different insight into the history of art and the gay artists that are part of the Vatican’s history and more! Highly recommended!

It was easy to schedule our tour. Everything was explained in great detail, so there was no confusion on the day of the excursion. The vans were spotless and comfortable. Our guide for the Colosseum was exceptional in every way. He was cute, knowledgeable, witty, flexible and engaging. We met so wonderful folks and shared a wonderful lunch with the guys from our group. Could not have been happier with Quiiky.

Highly recommend Quiiky.com for tours/day trips in Italy. They did an AMAZING job on our tours in Palermo and Naples as well as arranging a wonderful beach day for us when we disembark in Civitavecchia before heading to the airport in the late afternoon.

We were in Venice for a very short time and I was looking for a tour to maximize our experience. Giovanna, the sales manager, was amazing and found a tour to meet our desires and time frame. The guide met us at the train station and took us on a tour of the city. He was insightful and personable and we enjoyed our time together.
