Cagliari, the Capital of Sardinia
Tour Information
Cagliari is the capital of Sardinia, its biggest town, looking like a fortress, defending the oldest island of the Mediterranean Sea.
It is surprising how its district near the Marina is still a vibrant memory of fishermen’s crafts. Small shops and restaurants lead to the elegant Via Roma, the very heart of Cagliari.
The Castle District is nearby: it is actually a fortress, with high walls and ramparts, named ‘Elephant’ or ‘Saint Pancras’.
As soon as you disembark, your guide will meet and greet to a sail-boat tour along the coast. Time to dive and sunbath, enjoy the clear waters in front of the town and along the bays…. You will be served a light lunch on board, paired with Sardinian wine. A three-hour tour, to relax and chill down.
Bring your swimming suit, towel, cap, sun screen and equipment for snorkeling! This will be a memorable experience at sea!
Walk along the fortified walls, upon the port and the fascinating Poetto Beach. At Saint Remy rampart you are at the most panoramic point of Cagliari. Its terrace dates back to 19th century and it now populated with bars and small trattorias.
Next stop is the Cathedral, which was built in the 13th century by Pisa and Genoa, which had great interest in the town as predominant in the Mediterranean. Not to be missed is the Punic-Roman Amphitheatre, which witnesses the influence of the Roman Empire.
You will be at Marina Piccola in time to go back on the cruise. A private transfer will take you to your ship before saying goodbye to this enchanting part of Italy.
